Learning objectives

  1. Understand how to pre-brief IDM
  2. Host a datalink session
  3. Enter IDM information in the DED
  4. Understand cursor data vs. mark point data
  5. Recognize HSD symbology for datalink

Hosting data

  • Host flight 1 player = CONT
  • all other players = DMD
  • designate DL back-up flight
  • Assign IDM in briefing like AA tacan assignments

Mark Points

To set mark points properly: Go to markpoint on ICP

  1. Choose sensor (e.g. TGP, HUD, FCR, etc)
  2. Move cursor to desired location
  3. TMS-Up to set markpoint

Steerpoints

ICP cardinals for entering manual coords

You can enter custom steerpoints using LAT/LONG coordinates entered directly in your ICP. These can be shared with wingmen over the radio in situations where data link is not enabled.

To enter a manual steerpoint:

  1. Press 7 (STPT) on the ICP
  2. Choose an unused steerpoint
  3. Enter the LAT coordinate. Remember to prefix any coordinate with N or S using ICP 2 or 8.
  4. Enter the LNG coordinate. Remember to prefix any coordinate with E or W using ICP 4 or 5.
  5. Enter the elevation of the steerpoint (which is AGL I believe)

You will now be able to access a common steerpoint with other flight members.
