Maverick is not just the callsign of a crazy pilot flying a Tomcat ! It's also one of the most effective weapon in the US arsenal with a reported hit rate of 80 to 90%
Like the LGB this weapon earn his reputation during the Gulf War where more than 5000 AGM-65 have been used mainly against armored targets.
Learning objectives
- Know the time limitations of the Mav' (3 mn power up time - 60 minutes with video OFF - 30 minutes with video ON)
- Set up the auto power ON on SMS page
- Know the launch restrictions (concept of keyhole - be sure to have a steady pointing cross to have a valid missile track)
- Know the basic symbology of the WPN page and in the HUD
- Know the 3 differents fire modes (PRE - VIS - BORE)
- Know the usefull functions of the HOTAS when using Mav' (pinky switch for FOV, TMS left for polarity, Uncage, Msl Step, cursor enable etc)
- Know how to do the handoff procedure between TGP and Mav'
