General SOPs¶
Baseline conduct and event expectations for how pilots, leads, and roster members operate in UOAF multiplayer events.
Gameplay¶
- Follow the directives of your lead, whether element, flight, or package lead. Large events need order if they are going to accomplish objectives on time without collapsing into chaos.
- Wingmen should try their best to fly visually with lead unless told otherwise. If a flight is not coordinating, it stops functioning as a unit and the package starts to break apart.
- Communication discipline matters.
- Wingmen should communicate with flight leads as required.
- Stay off the radio unless the transmission is necessary.
- Package communication should be mostly limited to flight leads, with limited exceptions.
- If you take a launch, lose sight, have a conflict, or need help, call it immediately.
- Radios are half-duplex. If you are transmitting, you are not hearing, and multiple people talking at once can effectively jam the frequency.
- For phraseology and common calls, see Communications and Brevity.
- Do not go solo or try to mutiny against the lead's plan. Doing your own thing in a structured event can get you uninvited from future events.
- Flights should follow their assigned tasking. If your mission is escort, do not peel off to strafe ground targets because other flights are depending on you.
UOAF Events¶
- Listen to and follow the directives of the event moderator.
- UOAF events are generally open to community members who consider themselves ready, but restrictions may apply. Read New Player if you are unsure where to start.
- All pilots should sign up on the event-specific RSVP sheet linked in the UOAF Discord announcements channel. Players can request slots or flights, but mission commanders make the final call.
- Respect marshal and briefing times.
- Show up on time with hardware and installs ready. Official events are not tech sessions, so test your setup before event day and ask for help early if needed.
UOAF Pickup¶
- Guests are welcome to create and run pickup flights outside of main events.
- Guests can join or create pickup flights by asking in Discord.
- Guests are expected to follow the gameplay standards above.
UOAF Roster¶
- Roster members are expected to be flight-commander capable.
- They are expected to maintain a high degree of competence in flight simulation.
- They are expected to maintain good reputation and behavior.
- They are expected to take flight lead and element lead positions as required.
UOAF Fragging / Mission Planning¶
- Mission planners creating UOAF event missions are expected to follow DCS and BMS frag guidelines for mission-quality purposes.
